Welcome to the 2023 October West Virginia CIC® Certification Prep Workshop!
Course Overview
This comprehensive workshop includes guidance and support from a CIC®-certified instructor(s) and access to the APIC Learning System for CIC. Your experienced faculty will build upon the foundation you have already established through your studies, guiding you through interactive discussions and activities as well as sample test questions. With the online reading materials and study tools found in the APIC Learning System, you will be able to identify your areas of strength and build on them, while also pinpointing areas where you need further study in preparation for the exam.
How to Access Your Online Course Work
- Use this link to access your course work, including the pre-test, course modules, and your final exam. Before you arrive in Denver, we recommend that you complete the pre-test under the "Assess" tab in your learning account. If you are unable to complete the pre-test before the course begins that is ok, you will have (1) calendar year after the course ends to complete all of the required course work.
- To communicate with your fellow workshop attendees use the Discussion tab.
Tips on how to Navigate the Online Learning Platform
- You can find the workbooks and agenda for this course under the Agenda and Workbooks tab on your Online Learning Dashboard. The workbooks are PDF versions of the PowerPoint slides that will be used throughout the live course.
- Please note: The PowerPoint slide decks are not included in your printed material that will be provided to you when you arrive. If you would like these slide decks printed you are welcome to do so, but it will be at your own expense.
- Once the 3-day workshop wraps up, complete the Post-Course Evaluation under the Coursework tab to claim your Certificate of Completion for attending the live course.
- Once you have completed all required course work (the pre-test, all online modules, and the final test) you will come back to this site to upload proof that you have completed all required learning material. You will then be able to access your Certificate of Completion for the online course work.

Infection Preventionist and Independent Infection Prevention Consultant

| Linda R. Greene, RN, MPS, CIC, FAPICLinda Greene has over 30 years' experience in Infection Prevention. She has served in many leadership roles in infection prevention. Most recently she was the Director of Infection Prevention, at the University of Rochester Highland Hospital, Rochester, New York. In May of 2022, she retired from her full-time position and is currently an infection prevention consultant for acute and long-term care. She continues to support Highland Hospital on a Per Diem basis. She has extensive experience in Infection Prevention in the acute care, long-term care, and ambulatory surgery settings. She held leadership roles in her local Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) chapter before becoming a member of the APIC Board of Directors in 2010. She served as National APIC president in 2017. Greene was also president of the board for APIC Consulting Services in 2015, and she continues to serve APIC and the IPC profession in myriad ways, including as an advisor and contributor to APIC position papers and implementation guides, APIC representative to the 2020 CDC Decennial Steering, Committee, faculty for APIC courses and as a consultant for APIC consulting. She is a frequent presenter at regional, national, and international conferences. Linda serves as National Faculty for several national HAI reduction projects. She has served on several advisory panels on public reporting of HAIs, and has received several awards in infection prevention, leadership, and nursing. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. |

| Lynn Fine has been an Infection Preventionist at the University of Rochester Medical School for over 20 years. She has been board certified in Infection Prevention since 2001,and is also an APIC Fellow. She has served on APIC's Research and Education committees, and was a contributing author on APIC's The Infection Preventionist's Guide to the Laboratory and their Ready Reference for Microbes. She also served as a section editor for the APIC Text. She is currently a faculty member for APIC's Epi Intensive and Certification Preparatory Classes. She is both a national and internationalspeaker and enjoys teaching and mentoring others. |
