Infection preventionists (IPs) are uniquely positioned to lead enterprise-wide quality and patient safety work, yet the path into roles like Chief Quality Officer (CQO) or Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) can feel is sometimes not clear. This one-hour webinar features a panel of senior clinical and quality leaders who will share how they evaluate candidates, what experiences most accelerate readiness, and how IPs can translate infection prevention impact into the language of quality, safety, performance improvement, and organizational strategy. Participants will leave with practical, real-world guidance on building credibility outside of IP, pursuing high-value stretch opportunities, and articulating an executive-ready narrative for advancement into broader leadership roles.
Learning Objectives
-Identify key competencies and cross-functional experiences that strengthen an IP’s readiness for quality and patient safety leadership roles (e.g., credibility-building outside IP, executive communication, and organizational influence).
-Describe practical strategies to translate infection prevention outcomes into enterprise quality/safety priorities and communicate value effectively to senior leaders.
-Understand strategies, such as learning new skills, taking on stretch assignments, and mentoring/networking to support a transition from IP into broader quality/patient safety leadership.
