APIC and IFIC Fireside Chat: Risk Communication and Community Engagement Tools for Infection Prevention and Control Experts

Through the past two years infection prevention and control (IPC) professionals have been managing through the COVID pandemic in healthcare settings around the world. While accurate and meaningful communication is always a goal, the need becomes even more important in a time of crisis. As we are dealing with surges of new COVID variants, members of the healthcare team and members of communities are often tempted to stop carrying out the known prevention methods that IPC and public health experts have been teaching. The use of risk communication and community engagement tools can be very helpful in delivery of critical messages. This speaker will discuss the application of these tools for optimal, successful communication.

Learning Objectives:
  • Recognize the need for changing how we communicate in a time of crisis.
  • Apply methods of risk communication and community engagement to improve communication during times of higher risk and stressful events.
